Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation):  Public Service

Our organization operates programs involved with providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) using certified instructors for individuals with special needs.

Our organization is directly responsible for the care of horses to provide its services.


Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
The NC Therapeutic Riding Center (NCTRC) exists to empower children and adults with emotional, social, physical and mental challenges to create active, healthier and more fulfilling lives through equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT).


Volunteer Opportunities


Lesson Volunteer
Minimum Age: 15
Lesson volunteers work directly with our instructors or therapists and horses in class, as either a Horse Leader or Sidewalker. Volunteers will groom & tack horses before each lesson, lead the horses during class or walk beside a rider offering support, and finally help to put everything away after class.
