Why are we a Messenger?

The EQUUS Foundation has designated our organization as a Messenger. Click here to learn more about our horse care and use practices.

Messengers are organizations on the Equine Welfare Network that demonstrate a commitment to public transparency and accountability by their willingness to publish and share extensive data about their operations.

Equine Welfare Network Messenger

Primary Focus involving horses (Horse Welfare, Public Service, Sport & Recreation):  Horse Welfare

Our organization operates programs involved with horse rescue, foster care, rehabilitation, adoption and/or retirement.

Our organization is directly responsible for the care of horses to provide its services.

100% of our total programs and services are horse-related.

Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:
To save as many equines as possible from abuse and neglect. To restore health of mind and body and place in qualified homes.

Horse-related programs:
RVHR shall provides shelter, food, daily care, medical treatment, rehabilitation, adoption services for horses in need because they have been abandoned, neglected and/or are in need of a new home.\r\nRVHR shall obtain legal ownership of donated horses accepted into our guardianship, with the goal to place these horses into caring and suitable adoptive homes.\r\nRVHR will search for the loving and caring placement families for these horses who deserve to have a second chance that come into our custody.\r\nRVHR shall serve as a shelter and provide care for legally impounded horses. As legal action is being taken by the State Veterinarian, local and other authorities because of maltreatment by the horses owner.\r\nRVHR shall assist others in the education on equine care and handling to the best of our abilities with the hopes to prevent the abuse of an equine due to negligence and ignorance within our community.\r\nOwners who wish to relinquish ownership to our rescue may do so knowing that we will follow that equine for the rest of its life. Many of these donated horses are healthy and are merely in need of a new adoptive family. We are an alternative.

Non-horse-related programs:
We assist animal control officers when any livestock needs to be housed while there owner is being found or are awaiting hearing date for cruelty charges.
