Our Mission/How we are involved with horses:The Equine Protection Fund (EPF, equineprotectionfund.org) is New Mexico's statewide equine welfare and assistance program, unique in the United States. The EPF offers assistance to New Mexico's licensed horse rescue shelters and to qualifying families in need with equines, providing emergency feed, gelding assistance and veterinary care, and, when necessary, humane disposition.
Founded in 2010, the EPF is a partnership between Animal Protection of New Mexico (APNM) and the New Mexico Community Foundation. APNM is a statewide animal advocacy nonprofit working for systemic change resulting in the humane treatment of all animals. By 2018, the Equine Protection Fund had assisted over 950 horses, donkeys, and mules.
Our organization provides programs involved with equine rescue, adoption & retirement
