EQUUS Foundation announces 24 Top Hunter & Jumper Riders
as Best Performance Competition Winners Circle Athletes

24 leading hunter & jumper riders, including Jennifer Alfano, Molly Ashe-Cawley, Hayley Barnhill, Jennifer Bauersachs, Kelli Cruciotti, John French, Hope Glynn, Patricia Griffith, Kristin Hardin, Lillie Keenan, Candice King, Laura Kraut, Peter Lutz, Beezie Madden, Holly Orlando, Peter Pletcher, Alison Robitaille, Havens Schatt, Louise Serio, Nicole Shahinian-Simpson, Will Simpson, Scott Stewart, Jimmy Torano, and McLain Ward, have signed on as EQUUS Foundation Best Performance Competition "Winners Circle Athletes" and are lending their name in support of the charitable efforts of the EQUUS Foundation.

Best Performance Competition
The Best Performance Competition is a new membership-based cumulative awards program to recognize competitive excellence and provide a meaningful way for the equestrian sport community to make a lasting difference in the lives of horses when their sport careers are over. It is unique in the way competitive performance is measured, and is the only awards program where 100% of the proceeds benefit horse welfare!

The Best Performance Competition is open to Junior, Amateur, and Professional USEF members competing in all divisions at USEF-recognized horse shows*. Exhibitors join one-time annually directly with the EQUUS Foundation for a $100 tax-deductible donation that covers all the shows for the competition year and all horses/ponies shown by the exhibitor at participating shows.

Participating horse shows provide the EQUUS Foundation with the show results. The standings, managed by the EQUUS Foundation and displayed on both the USEF and EQUUS Foundation websites, are broken down by age group and show level. The standings will reflect the best six shows of each member rider/horse combination based on their total points divided by the number of classes entered at the shows where they compete.
The EQUUS Foundation is dedicated to ensuring a future for horses in transition. There are 200,000 unwanted horses in the U.S. They become unwanted because they get sick, suffer career ending injuries, or are reluctantly surrendered because their owners can no longer care for them.
An estimated 130,000 unwanted horses are transported over the border and slaughtered for horse meat.

Imagine a future . . . where these gentle giants continue to lead productive lives after their initial careers are over - as therapy horses, lesson horses, companion horses; and, when they've given us all they’ve got, are able to live out the remainder of their lives in comfort and with dignity.

Joining the Best Performance Competition can help make this vision a reality!

Calling all Juniors, Amateurs and Professionals
Join the Best Performance Competition here today!

The overall Best Performance Competition National & Regional winners will have the opportunity to award a grant of up to $5,000 in their name to deserving equine charities on the EQUUS Foundation Equine Welfare Network.

*For the inaugural 2016-2017 competition year, participation will be limited to the hunter and jumper disciplines with the goal going forward to embrace all disciplines that wish to participate.
