Fairfield Voted USHJA Zone 1 Member's Choice Show Two Years in a Row

WESTPORT, CT - December 20, 2013 - The EQUUS Foundation and the Fairfield County Hunt Club are proud to announce that the Club's June Benefit Horse Show was voted the Member's Choice Horse Show for Zone 1 by the United States Hunter Jumper Association for the second year in a row.

"We are thrilled to be associated with this wonderful show. Being recognized by exhibitors as their favorite is a testament to the Club'’s commitment to ensuring the highest standards for the competition and its facility, personnel and hospitality," said Catherine Herman, EQUUS Foundation Board member who is serving as a Co-Chair of the show with Sean Hogan and Michele Ippolito.

"We, along with the Fairfield County Hunt Club staff and members are happy to be partnered with the EQUUS Foundation and look forward to welcoming our June Show exhibitors and spectators, both old and new, to the 2014 show." said Sean Hogan and Michele Ippolito.

The June Show is also a Heritage Competition, the highest honor that can be bestowed on a horse show by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), the governing body of the equestrian sport.

There are only 16 horse shows of the more than 2,600 horse shows in the country that claim this distinction - a distinction reserved for horse shows not only dedicated to technical excellence but also philanthropy and community involvement.

The EQUUS Foundation has been the show beneficiary since the Foundation was first established in 2003.

"Giving Back" has been a long standing commitment of the Fairfield County Hunt Club June Horse Show, with each of the more than 250 classes sponsored by an individual or local business making a donation to the show beneficiary.

The June Benefit Horse Show has been continually operating since 1924, and is the highlight of equestrian activities at the Club.

The show is a dynamic, community event with free admission that welcomes the public to experience the equestrian sport up close and personal.
