Nominations Open for WIHS Klinger Perpetual Award for Honor & Service
WESTPORT, CT - September 10, 2014 - The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), Ariat International and the EQUUS Foundation are pleased to announce that nominations are open for the WIHS Klinger Perpetual Award for Honor & Service. The award recognizes a horse, individual or organization each year that best demonstrates the values of honor and service as embodied by Klinger, one of the inaugural inductees of the EQUUS Foundation/United States Equestrian Federation Horse Stars Hall of Fame.
Klinger, a special horse who has touched the lives of many in his life of service with the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) Caisson Platoon, has also been an important part of the WIHS for many years - visiting with children on WIHS Kids' Day, joining the Breakfast with the Mounted Police, and participating in the Caisson Platoon Exhibition on WIHS Military Night.
The 2014 award recipient will be recognized during a presentation at center ring with Klinger and representatives of the WIHS, Ariat International and the EQUUS Foundation on Friday, October 24 during the annual WIHS Military Night. The recipient will receive a pair of boots courtesy of Ariat International and will have the opportunity to select an equine charity on the Equine Welfare Network of the EQUUS Foundation to receive a $1,000 grant from the EQUUS Foundation.
Nominations must be received by September 17, 2014.
