The EQUUS Foundation Fete Cheval - So Much Fun for Causes Dear to Equestrian Hearts!

WESTPORT, CT - November 23, 2011 - The EQUUS Foundation is pleased to announce that Spy Coast Farm will be the Title Sponsor of its Fete Cheval on Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida.

“Spy Coast Farm supports the EQUUS Foundation because we know that they fully vet the hundreds of equine-related organizations that they help fund,” said Lisa Lourie.

Co-Chairs Hillary Dobbs, Patricia Keenan, and Elizabeth Press have arranged for the Fete Cheval guests to enjoy the very best in cuisine in the International Club before the fun begins in the International Arena. Wall Street Farm is donating the horses for classic games like Musical Stalls, Egg on a Spoon, and Sit A Buck. Ralph Caristo and Susie Schoellkopf will be on hand to officiate.

The riders so far include Max Amaya, Derek Braun, Saer Coulter, Nick Dello Joio, Hillary Dobbs, Brianne Goutal, Patricia Griffith, Charlie Jayne, Paige Johnson, Laura Kraut, Alexa & Rodrigo Pessoa, Kim Prince, Havens Schatt, Louise Serio, Jessica Springsteen, Scott Stewart, Shane Sweetnam, and McLain Ward.

The EQUUS Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of horses and funds a broad range of programs directly involved with horse welfare, including rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and retirement facilities, equine ambulance services, and equine veterinary research.

The Foundation also supports programs that facilitate second careers for horses, many of which involve providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) to those who are in need.

Indeed, as Lourie points out, “A well-bred performance mare can take on a new life as a broodmare after her career in the ring is over. Spy Coast Farm takes advantage of this often under-utilized resource in order to improve sport horse breeding here in America.”

Spy Coast Farm specializes in the breeding and development of top quality performance horses. Spy Coast Farm's breeding operation is located in Lexington, Kentucky. Their young horse training facility is on Long Island and Wellington, Florida, is their home base for campaigning their home breds and other show horses.

Equestrian Idols to Perform

“We are so grateful to Spy Coast Farm and the Lourie family for their support of our Fete Cheval, and so thankful for their committment to horse welfare and the advancement of the equestrian sport,” said Lynn Coakley, President of The EQUUS Foundation.

Spy Coast Farm will be the Title Sponsor of the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival for the week of February 8-12, 2012, and will be using its sponsorship platform to introduce the Gluck Equine Research Center to the show jumping community.

“Gluck has been committed to equine veterinary research for 25 years and has contributed to many of the products and tests we take for granted when dealing with our horses,” said Lourie.

The featured event on Saturday, February 11, 2012, will be the $125,000 Grand Prix FEI CSI W presented by Spy Coast Farm, during which the EQUUS Foundation Equestrian Idols will perform a complimentary musical cabaret. “It's sure to be a crowd pleaser, ” said Coakley.

The performers will include Emcee Hillary Dobbs with Taylor Hughes, Ki-Juan Minors, Jen White Kane, Brian Lookabill and 2011 Equestrian Idol Winner Robert Orthwein.
