MISSION & PROGRAMS

Mission:
Southern Redhead Farms Rescue, Inc. is organized for the purpose of equine rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing. It is the stated purpose of Southern Redhead Farms Rescue, Inc. to ensure that neglected, abandoned, mistreated and malnourished equines are rescued, receive quality care and treatment, and are placed with loving and caring people.

Our organization provides programs involved with equine rescue, adoption & retirement

Summary of organization's goals, strategies to achieve the goals, accomplishments, and capabilities to meet the goals, including its long-term plans to sustain its programs:
Southern Redhead Farms Rescue is dedicated to the following goals (1) To expose and educate about the cruelty and neglect of horses; (2) To ensure and assist in upholding the administration of current laws and codes against animal cruelty in the state of Florida; and (3) To implement a system of immediate care for abused and neglected horses.
     
     The rescue also works with local law enforcement for a program named "EIE on Horses" which stands for Education, Intervention and Euthanasia. This program was put in place to help horse owners and law enforcement in keeping horses in safe homes.
     
     The rescue has become a resource for the local law enforcement in providing a safe home for neglected equine that are not safe in their current situation or to provide education to the owner to make sure that the horse can stay in the home safely.
     
     This year the rescue started a program for underprivileged girls entitled Empower with Horsepower. The first session will be June 2022.
     
     
     As the program continues to grow we fund the program thru fundraising activities.

Horse Rescue, Rehabilitation, Retraining & Re-homing:
Overview of our programs involved with rescue, rehabilitation, retraining, re-homing and/or retirement:
     Southern Redhead Farms Rescue has created a program named "EIE on Horses". The goal of this program is to educate all people about the appropriate care and treatment of horses and other equines to make sure that horses can stay in forever homes without fear of mistreatment and maltreatment. The program will also help individuals monetarily to euthanize elderly or sick equine instead of allowing the equine to suffer.
     Our goal is to work with local institutions (livestock deputies, feed stores, veterinary offices) to identify those horse owners that are struggling with the proper care of their horse. The rescue will evaluate the horses' environment, target the issue and determine if education, intervention or euthanasia are appropriate. The ultimate goal is to be able to keep the horse with their owner by making sure the owners are properly trained on equine care. If this cannot be accomplished, the rescue will work with the owner on appropriate placement.
     When a case is identified, SRFR has 3 people within the rescue that are eligible to educate potential horse owners. As requests are received, 1 member will be assigned, on a rotating basis, as point for that case and that individual will follow the case to its conclusion.
     
     If other interventions are required, we will work with local organizations to provide as much assistance as possible.
     
     The rescue will determine if the program is successful if (1) Number of potential cases of neglect and abuse are reduced as measured by new cases with Sheriff's department
     ; (2) Case closure by the North Central Florida livestock deputies; and (3) Owner retention of horses.
     
     We are starting a program for underprivileged girls called Empower with Horsepower. This year is a pilot program only.

Community Outreach and/or Public Education:
Overview of our programs involved with providing community outreach and/or public education programs involving horses:
     EIE on Horses - This program is Education, Intervention and Euthanasia for horse owners in the community. Working in conjunction with local livestock deputies, we help in instances where the owner has a deficient in knowledge on caring for the horse. The rescue will work with the owner to give them the knowledge to care for the horse appropriately. The goal is to keep the horse in home with the owner if at all possible.
     
     For those that are interested in adoption but have limited knowledge of horse care and management, the rescue will provide horsemanship education to include care, feeding, grooming, etc. We will also make connections to approved veterinarians, equines dentists and farriers if required.
     
     This summer we will start a underprivileged girls program named Empower with Horsepower.

Research/Medical Use of Equines:
Our organization has never made, and would not ever consider making, equines available for research studies or medical training that involves invasive procedures and/or that which may cause pain or suffering to the equine. 

Religious Affiliation:
Our organization does not promote religious education or religious purposes or use donations for religious education or religious purposes; require participants to be of a certain faith; require participation in religious, instruction, activities or services; or require participation in prayer, worship, religious instruction or other religious activities as a condition of receiving social or secular services offered.

Our organization has never allowed, or would not consider allowing, an equine to be sold, transferred, released, or otherwise placed into possession of any person or organization that would cause or allow the equine to be sold at auction for slaughter.
