Happy Thoughts Joins Lafitte De Muze as EQUUS Foundation Equine Ambassador

The EQUUS Foundation is pleased to welcome Happy Thoughts, owned by Caroline Moran and ridden by Havens Schatt, as an EQUUS Foundation Equine Ambassador.

"Happy Thoughts, AKA 'Bobby', is excited to be an Equine Ambassador for the EQUUS Foundation," said Caroline Moran. "He hopes that his success in the USHJA National Derbies will continue so that he can help to support horses in need."

"Bob" started his career showing in the jumpers in Mexico under the name Little Big Man. Standing at only 15.2 hands, the name was quite fitting for a tough little horse. As a 6-year-old, he was imported to the US and had his name changed to Happy Thought. He then caught the eye of Havens Schatt. David Lubben purchased him for Havens to compete in the Pre-Green Division.

Later that same year, after being purchased by Caroline Moran, his official name was changed to Happy Thoughts. Havens continued to successfully guide him through the Green Hunter with their sights set on the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) National Derby.

Bobby and Havens competed in their first USHJA National Derby at the 2019 Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). After winning the National Derby at WEF and a second-place finish in the Deeridge National Derby, it became immediately obvious that this was exactly what he was meant to do! Since that time, Bobby and Havens accrued multiple top ten placings in 2019.

Caroline said, "On Derby Days, Bob's cheering squad is dressed in Team Happy Thoughts t-shirts with pockets full of treats. We will be cheering loudly for Bob as he enters the ring as an EQUUS Foundation Equine Ambassador."

The EQUUS Foundation is dedicated to putting an end to the abuse, neglect and slaughter of America's horses by increasing opportunities for horses to share their magic and power - as athletes, companions, teachers and healers - with as many people as possible.

EQUUS Foundation Equine Ambassadors are sport horses whose owners donate a portion of their winnings in equestrian sport competitions to help ensure that all horses are safe, healthy, and treated with dignity as partners.

"Too many of America's horses are in need of a lifeline and opportunities to thrive," said Lynn Coakley, EQUUS Foundation President. "There's no greater gift you can give than to have your equine partner pay it forward as an EQUUS Foundation Equine Ambassador. We are deeply grateful to Happy Thoughts, Caroline, Havens, and their team!"
