After 1,527 days Zella has found her forever home.
Zella 'Zealous Storm' was an auction intercept - recognized by caring fans from the track they stepped in to rescue her and ask NEER North to help. Zella was a typical chestnut mare. She picked her person, didn’t always like to be touched or brushed. She had some underlying trauma regarding food and an unknown track injury that ended her career and caused occasional lameness. When she was good - she was GREAT and enjoyed hacking walk-trot in the field with her chosen trainer. When it was ultimately determined that keeping her sound for that type of job wasn’t in her future she waited and waited for her perfect companion home. In stepped Susan, who had just lost one of her OTTB mares and had one at home in need of a friend. When Zella arrived it was like she had been there all along, it was meant to be. She adores her new friend, her fresh shavings, her stall, and all the visitors that wander by to say hello.
Welcome home Zella and thank you for our kind and compassionate volunteers, trainers and supporters who have helped her along her path to her forever. Thank you Susan for opening your home to Zella
