Happy Endings!

Happy Endings shared by

EAST DORSET, VT

Spirit was part of an animal cruelty case several years ago involving a herd of over 30 Shetland ponies. Most of them were mares who went to other rescue organizations and individuals. No one wanted the four stallions who were left, so The Dorset Equine Rescue agreed to take them in. None of them had been handled much, but with consistent trust building and training, they slowly came around and eventually developed good ground manners.

Spirit was the most feral out of the bunch and it took a couple of years to fully gain his trust. We believe this was because he was the youngest and was born into the feral situation and the other three may have had some handling earlier in their lives. Even today he can still be guarded and unsure at times.

Spirit was the last one out of the group to get adopted. In the beginning it took a long time to catch him and he was terrified of people and being touched. Now he's a love bug and enjoys going for hikes, doing tricks and being loved on.

Spirit has two equine companions in his new home, but please watch the video is of him getting to know his new goat friend.
