Mission:Hope 4 Horses is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe, caring and healthy environment for horses that are unwanted, at risk or displaced and providing education to young and old on how to better help our horses in need.

Summary of organization's goals, strategies to achieve the goals, accomplishments, and capabilities to meet the goals, including its long-term plans to sustain its programs:We host clinics with nationally known professionals, we offer lessons and continued support to anyone interested in learning about quality horsemanship and specific disciplines. Some of our volunteers, students and clients are able to grow into trainers and instructors often taking on our program equids, helping us to sustain our growth and mission. As we perform in competition, exhibitions and other events, we are also educating the general public along with the equestrian public to the humane treatment and care of these animals. This helps us in soliciting funding for our programs as, well.
Horse Rescue, Rehabilitation, Retraining & Re-homing:Overview of our programs involved with rescue, rehabilitation, retraining, re-homing and/or retirement:
Our goal is to help our equine companions through training and behavior modifying to be of value so that they can find appropriate "forever" homes. Our re-training focuses on each individual horse's unique abilities so we can place them in best matching environment/discipline.(exhibition, competition, therapeutic, school/lesson, etc.)
We promote these horses in many venues, from competitions, exhibitions and other public performances -- along with our "at home" programs as lesson horses, lease/sponsorship and volunteer programs. We provide horses to be exposed to new environments with qualified horsemen and women, in in several Horse Expos and other exhibitions, and we are daily performers in the California State Fair.
Anita Markiewicz, founder and President, worked in the Racing Industry, from 1976 to 1985 training racehorses, managing in the breeding and foaling barns along with working and administering to the injured and lay-ups. After leaving the racing end of the industry, focused efforts to help these horses coming off the track and off the farms to transition into new careers. She continued her education and traveled to Europe to ride with several international caliber dressage riders, coming back to delve into horsemanship offered by leading clinicians in this field.
Founding Hope for Horses allowed her to continue in a lifelong journey of learning and helping horses from all aspects and disciplines. She is a Level II Centered Riding Instructor, certified CHA instructor, and a trainer for over 45 years, utilizing horsemanship/relationship focus working with the nature of the horse.
Hope for Horses host clinics with nationally renowned Horsemen and women, to better our understanding and training techniques to better prepare the horses to be Great Equine Good Citizens.
Our programs include offering a trainer's incentive program with qualified trainers, offering horses to these people to train for their clients. We are partners with CARMA: California Retirement Management Account for retired Racehorses. We are TAA accredited.
We take in at risk and displaced horses, evaluate each of them as individuals, prepare a specific program that will help them become good equine citizens. Contacts with peer trainers/instructors increases the visibility of the value of program equids, offering more opportunities to find homes.
We are a Horsemanship, Classical Transition Center using Centered Riding techniques as an Educational Center. We are also members of The Forever Foundation with Trevor Carter, partners with The Right Horse Initiative, members of United Horse Coalition and work with the ASPCA.

Everyone has some issue they are dealing with, and our programs promote individual confidence giving purpose to the relationship between horse and human. Our Educational activities and sessions, promote responsibility, compassion, providing a learning environment for personal growth. This system promotes team work, the ability to think outside the box.
In helping horses to become better each individual gains greater self esteem and grows in confidence, learning to be comfortable in many areas. We provide sessions helping people where they are and helping them grow in areas they never thought they could or would.
We assist the students with haltering, brushing, saddling their mounts and assist in creating a bond with their mounts. Our horses "pick" their partners and if the horse is "off" on the day of lesson/session, we have the student interact with that horse on a different level for that session, doing groundwork, observing what is different in the behavior that day, or observing the "off-ness" of that day, or we use a different horse for that session.
Equipment used for each horse is specifically fitted to each horse. We use bitless/side-pull headstalls for each horse. Bitted Bridles are only allowed once the student shows awareness and ability to use that equipment.
We hold educational clinics at our facility, inviting world class clinicians to lead our training and teaching of both horse and handler. We offer Outreach Days with lessons in grooming, and riding.
We provide educational field trips for children of many ages through our connection with schools and scouting programs. We provide mounted and unmounted educational sessions.
