The Honor and Service Award was jointly established by the EQUUS Foundation and the Washington International Horse Show in 2013 following the induction of Klinger into the Horse Stars Hall of Fame in 2013. Klinger was the inspiration for the award and its first recipient. Klinger was a member of the Caisson platoon of the 3d United States Infantry (The Old Guard) which is now called the United States Army Military Mounted Battalion, 3D Infantry Regiment.
The award recognizes a horse, individual or organization each year that best demonstrates the values of honor and service as embodied by the horses of the Caisson platoon. The award recipient will be recognized at the Washington International Horse Show. The award recipient will have the opportunity to select an equine charity on the EQUUS Foundation Equine Welfare Network to receive a $1,500 grant from the EQUUS Foundation.
Nominations are closed.
Check back on August 15 to submit a nomination.
