Fairfield Welcomes Back EQUUS Foundation

The EQUUS Foundation will again be the beneficiary of the 2017 Fairfield County Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show (Fairfield) and will hold its annual benefit luncheon on Saturday, June 24th. Guests will enjoy a champagne reception, auction, lunch, and VIP ringside viewing of the $30,000 Grand Prix, the culminating event of the five-day show.

"The Fairfield County Hunt Club is dedicated to providing a quality horse show, and is pleased to support the EQUUS Foundation. We are continually at work to improve the facility and class schedule to enhance the experience for exhibitors, horses, and spectators alike," said Benedicte Berg who is co-chairing the show with Wynatte Chu and Sean Hogan.

Fairfield is open to the public free of charge and is one of only 24 horse shows of the more than 2,600 horse shows in the United States that is recognized as a Heritage Competition. This is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a horse show by US Equestrian, the governing body of the equestrian sport, and is a distinction reserved for horse shows not only dedicated to technical excellence but also philanthropy and community involvement.

The EQUUS Foundation is the only national charity in the United States dedicated solely to horse welfare and fostering the horse-human bond. 130,000 American horses are shipped across the border each year for slaughter. Most are healthy and have untapped potential as teachers, companions and therapy horses serving individuals with special needs and veterans.

"America's horses need all of us," said Lynn Coakley, EQUUS Foundation President. The EQUUS Foundation serves over 1,000 equine charities nationwide to help them be stronger and better at what they do, and awards financial support to the ones operating at the highest standards. Said Coakley, "Whether you are a competitor, pleasure rider, or horse lover, America's horses need your support!"
