HONOREES
Thomas O'Mara, President of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF)
David O'Connor, USEF Chief of Sport and former USEF President
The EQUUS Foundation established the Spirit Award in 2023 to honor equestrians who have significantly elevated the image and desirability of horses.
"We are honoring Tom and David for their role in bringing the concept of the 'Social License to Operate' to the forefront of the equestrian community," said Lynn Coakley, EQUUS Foundation President.
"The 'Social License to Operate' has been at the core of the EQUUS Foundation mission to protect America's horses from peril and strengthen the bond between horses and people -- that all equines involved in any role and in any capacity - as athletes, companions, teachers, laborers and healers - are safe, healthy, and treated with dignity as partners. Any activity that incorporates equine interactions and/or the equine environment, mounted or ground-based, must make the quality of life of our equine partners paramount."
"We hope you share these sentiments and will join us on Sunday, February 25th, for the 2nd Annual EQUUS Foundation Spirit Award Reception from 6 pm to 8 pm, on the Terrace of the Wanderers Club in Wellington, Florida."
