Inspiring Advocacy for Horse Welfare at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Show
Fairfield Equine Associates, a proud partner of the EQUUS Foundation, hosted the Old Salem Spring Horse Shows Exhibitor Party on Friday, May 17th, in North Salem, NY, to raise awareness of the need to protect America's horses from peril and support aftercare for America's horses when their sport careers are over.
Exhibitors and guests had the opportunity to shop in the vendor area that included the EQUUS Foundation's display featuring products donated by EQUUS Foundation #HorseProtector sponsors while enjoying a sparkling signature drink and appetizers catered by 121 Restaurant.

"We are grateful to have a presence at this well-attended and prestigious show, thanks to Fairfield Equine Associates and Old Salem Farm, and to connect with current and future #HorseProtectors," said EQUUS Foundation's founder and President, Lynn Coakley. Coakley founded the EQUUS Foundation 20 years ago when faced with the retirement of her daughter's show horse, Cornelius. While Coakley had the means to retire Cornelius, she discovered that there were few options for horses to stay safe and loved if their owners could not afford to keep them.
"It is important to keep spreading the word at equestrian events that all horses need advocates and protectors at all stages of their lives," said Valerie Angeli, EQUUS Foundation VP of Engagement. "As strong as they are, they are also vulnerable, and their welfare and future are entirely in our hands."
All horse lovers can help ensure that America's horses live in comfort and with purpose and dignity throughout their lives by taking the #HorseProtector Pledge and building consensus within the equine industry to embrace solutions for equines in transition and not allow them to be shipped across our borders for slaughter.
