Hoofs and Woofs Go Virtual on June 20 at the Fairfield June Show
It was an unusually hot day on Thursday, June 20th, for the EQUUS Foundation Hoof n' Woof Adoption event sponsored by Fairfield Equine Associates at the Fairfield June Horse Show. Even though it was too hot to have the actual animals attend onsite, they were well-represented by Rising Starr Horse Rescue, based in Wilton, and Lucky Dog Refuge, based in Stamford, to learn what we can all do for animals that need us — even if you cannot adopt right now.

It wasn't too hot to engage young folks who bounced on the bouncy horses, jumped horseless horse show jumps, and even played some corn hole.

Lucky Dog Refuge is safe a haven for dogs from dire backgrounds focusing on the dogs most in need of saving - those abandoned by their families, the strays, the starving, the injured, the sick, and those in immediate need of help.
"Every dog we commit to is guaranteed love and a beautiful life with the forever family they so deserve," said Kirstin Mende, Founder.
Since opening its doors in June of 2020, Lucky Dog Refuge has placed over 850 dogs and cats in need in happy, forever homes. Learn more at luckydogrefuge.com.
Woodstock and Pigpen (pictured above) are the "lucky dogs" who intended to get adopted at the June 20 event, and even though they stayed home because of the heat, they have been adopted. Click here for adoptable dogs at Lucky Dog Refuge.

"Our goal is to educate, inspire and motivate visitors and exhibitors of all ages who may not know about the many welfare issues that ultimately land horses in trouble and at risk of homelessness and abuse and neglect — dogs too!" said Valerie Angeli, EQUUS Foundation VP of Engagement. "Even if one person is enlightened by our message and does more careful planning to ensure successful transition for their horse, or one person thinks about adopting a horse that needs a lifeline, we have been successful today."
"We wish to express our appreciation to Fairfield Equine Associates and the Fairfield June Show for the opportunity to raise awareness that all animals deserve to be safe and healthy throughout their lives," said Lynn Coakley, EQUUS Foundation President.
